#6,925 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

This was a different type of story that I normally read. I mean teenage angst to romance. The story revolves around a girl who was not the cheerleader, but the 'ugly duckling'. She has a weight issue and was teased even by her own sister. She has a crush on the boy next door (Jay) for so long. But moved away after her parents divorce. Now she is back with the same issues. Her bff (Shauna) is still there for her. And the neighbor (Tuck) who has been there is on her side till his own life takes over. But when tragedy strikes who will be left standing. This is the first in several stories that revolve around high school sweethearts.

I found myself surprised by how much I enjoyed this young adult novel. I wasn't sure at the start of it if I would. I didn't particularly care for the voice of the opening scene, but as the book progressed, I understood more. The book covers a lot of time and there are parts where weeks and even months go by, but it was still good. I appreciated the topic of eating disorders being covered. I also enjoyed the epilogue. I like to know the characters I've read are enjoying their lives later in life.

this story more than most YA stories I read. At times I was a little annoyed at Tucker just because he seemed to hold Lacey to a different standard than him. I mean, he went through that whole period where he bullied her and pretended they weren’t friends but blamed her for having to pretend they weren’t friends later. I had to keep reminding myself they’re just 15 lol. Otherwise, I truly loved the book. I was really excited to see more books about the Sunday Lunchers!

I loved This book . I enjoyed all the characters and the plot. It brings out a real problem with the young ladies in school today . It shows that they should be embarrassed by their bodies or problems that they have. I would have my daughter read this book . Thank you for the great book can't wait to read the next

This was an easy read. One that you won't be able to put down until the last page. There were some major turning points that I never saw coming, like an OMG moment. Loved all the characters and hope to see more of them in a sequel.

This book will transport you right back to high school. All those feelings of uncertainty and low self esteem while comparing yourself to others were on full display. The mean girls, the parties. . . There was a lot of emotional content in this book. Hard issues that a lot of girls face. My heart broke for Lacey so many times. Her happy ending felt extra satisfying.

Intense coverage of the insecurities that high school girls feel and the trouble that can cause. Hard to realize what someone is going through if there is a lack of communication. There was a little lacking in the romances. It was still worth the read.

I absolutely loved this whole series! It was refreshing to read something with more substance than just a standard romance (although I love those, too!). I haven't read book 6 yet, but the other 5 are fabulous.

I really liked this book. The message: you really cannot control your kids in high school...thus, middle school is a good time to focus on guiding vs controlling and making sure your relationship stays strong so they will come to you when they have challenges in high school. How to do that without being a push-over and still having limits is the core of the book. Lots of very specific ideas about how to interact with tweens. And a super helpful caterpiller/crysilis analogy that I found eye-opening. I found the book really helpful, and highly recommend it. I just bought a copy to give to my mom to help grandma think about new ways to interact with her tween grandkid. My only caveat would be to take the last couple chapters with a giant grain of salt, as they are outdated. It would be ideal if the author updated the book. The chapter on technology references Myspace and Friendster, which gives you some idea of how dated the book is (were they still relevant even in 2008?). And the chapter on sex ed suggests, albeit reluctantly, that it might be OK for parents with religious concerns about homosexuality to tell their gay tweens/teens that it's OK to be gay as long as you live your life without ever acting on those feelings. At best, an anachronistic message.But...there is so much good advice about interacting with your tween in this book. Just give those sections a pass to gather the gold in the other chapters.

This book is very helpful, and I can relate to so many stories in it. There was a chart in one chapter regarding parental statements and teen interpretations of those statements that was basically my life in a chart. Trying to navigate the early teen emotions has been rough at times. The techniques and perspectives in this book have been helpful. If for no other reason than it shows you that all is normal. :)

Everyone with a 9 year old or older should read this book. My girls are 13 and I find it helpful navigating the hormonal years that are still to come.

They should give this out at the hospital when you leave after having a baby..... I am a only Child. So i only have me to compare.... and well i have all boys.... this has helped me.

Excellent advice for navigating some of the everyday conversations; some things should be taken with a grain of salt or keeping your family's unique dynamic and individual differences in personality in mind. The best part of this book? Practical strategies and how they might be employed in realistic interactions! Some tips from the book: family meetings, conversing with your recalcitrant teen without getting overwhelmed, avoiding letting your child rely on you to save the day every time they s/he has difficulty...after employing some of these, I can say they really have helped.

I just recently became a foster parent to a teenage girl, and while I teach teenagers for a living, actually having one in my home is an entirely different experience. I have no other children. This book gave me some great strategies for negotiating and setting rules for my new teenage daughter, and so far everything has gone very smoothly with her. I am glad I purchased this book!

We need more books like this! The Tween years are hard to handle, and we cannot change the child. We can, however, change our own attitudes and arm ourselves with knowledge that will help us to be the best adult we can be, focusing on the future and what kind of adult we want our child to become.

If you have a kid you must have this book. Just buy it and keep it handy because it’s a goldmine of advise you know but you just reminding.

Got this book for my son who has severe food allergies, what I didnt know was this book is about a boy with wheat, milk allergies. So there is a part at the end of the book about how the boy is diffrent now but he will soon grow out of the allergies and be just the same as all other kids. We had to skip this page because son will never grow out of his nut allergy just wish I'd know what the book said prior to buying it.

The tips for teachers is nice at the back, but the book makes it seem like you just get sick from your allergies...food allergies are life threatening. One part says you should let a food allergy kid go to the bathroom more, if a child us reacting they potentially need life saving medication. Disappointed with this book as it seems to minimize the severity of food allergies.

This book is one of a series on various medical issues and disabilities. The good features are that there is a quiz at the end, teacher tips and resources. Another good feature is that the book emphasizes similarities between children. I do feel as if it goes into too much detail about the biology of things: histamine, antibodies, etc. I think there are better books on allergies out there.

This book is good for introducing food allergies to a class or friends in elementary school. It's very simple and talks about being accepting of others differences from a food allergic child's perspective.

My daughter is allergic to Dairy, Egg and Tree Nuts. This book was a great book to show her and her Kindergarten class that she may have allergies but is still a normal little child just like everyone else.

My daughter's platform is food allergy awareness, she will be going around to local schools talking with grades Pre-k-2nd grade about food allergies. She said she really liked this book and cannot wait to share it with the students.

donating to child's classroom

I ordered this book in print AND ebook because of some of the other reviews for it. My son is allergic to gluten and dairy and this boy is allergic to wheat and milk (perfect!)... but I was SO disappointed! I was reading it to him and we got halfway through and the story started to not make sense. The pages weren't even in the CORRECT ORDER! Don't waste your time or money with this one.. there are better amazing allergy books out there.
