Very interesting book and very well written. Glad I purchased it. It was sad and heart warming to hear about what happened to so many of the child stars. Loved the successful transitions, broke my heart on the tragic ones. Great book.
Comprehesive, but would have liked more details. Each entry is only a page or two long.
This was a massive undertaking, and I respect that. There are, however, some glaring omissions, like the shows Father Murphy, Voyagers, Bad News Bears, etc., which I found disappointing. How in heaven's name did Flipper not make the cut? The photos that are included are nice; especially surprising were the color ones. There are so, so many that were not included, though. Too many of the subjects have no photo, black and white or color. Maybe it was the expense, maybe there was a fear of losing white space, I don't know. If I had taken the time to look at the index (which you can do on the Amazon page) I would have passed on this book.
I really enjoy this book, it tells me about some child stars I loved watching on television. I was unhappy to see that Angel Flores, a child star from The New Mickey Mouse Club had passed away. I used to think he was so cute.
Mosty fun, great stories.
A lot of bread but not much meat. A few interesting facts, but mostly generalities. You can probably get the same info and more on Wikipedia or a Google search.
Kathy Garver gives you good information on the child actors you grew up with. She shows that most became productive members of society. Check out her other books.
Would have liked more detailed information but it was interesting all the same.
