I am really disappointed with the language used in this workbook. Naming words? Action words? Describing words? Those should be called nouns, verbs and adjectives! I wish they used the proper parts of speech. Do not recommend.
This is right on target with what a first grader will learn in school. It starts off with the very basic of basic grammar. It moves at a nice pace and covers the information. This would work well for part of your curriculum for homeschooling or an on grade review
These books are awesome! They are keeping my boys a grade ahead and occupied over the summer! There is not much of an explanation for the tasks before the test but that's where you as a parent come in so you do have to explain the coursework before they begin. Don't expect it to make them genius' BUT it does help them learn what they need to do at their grade level or higher.
Excellent book that covers every imaginable aspect of grammar in a step-wise progression. It has everything they need to know, and nothing they don't. The work is very consistent (nothing too fluffy/easy and nothing too complex or time consuming). Has explanations (which helps me refresh on the less common points, as a parent, since it's been 40 years since I was in grade school), exercises, and reviews/tests at the end of each section. The exercises vary in format so it's not always the same thing over and over. The best language arts workbook we've seen, by far.
This was, overall, a good addition to my homeschool curriculum. My son completed the worksheets with little effort, but with little enthusiasm as well. Does it make grammar "fun"? No. But, it's thorough. This would be a good supplement during the school year or for review over the summer.
Got these at the recommendation of our son's tutor. His test results are gradually improving, so I guess they're helping him learn the subject material.
This is kind of a review workbook, there isn't any instruction, really. Not something my son can do on his own, as I had hoped.
Wonderful grammar skills of all types necessary are covered in this workbook. My daughter learned a great deal, reviewed a great deal, and was not bored with the format. I highly recommend this workbook with answer key included for all parents wishing to keep their students' skills at bay, and this would also be great for the home-schooled. Great purchase and well worth the money!!
